Colleen’s 40-30 Treatment Plan – MicroPenning with PRP
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted about my 40-30 Treatment Plan, mostly because I’ve been enjoying the subtle transformations of my last Ultherapy treatment. As I mentioned, Ultherapy can take up to 6 months to show a complete result, but since getting it two months ago, I’ve been noticing a beautiful lifting of my cheeks and eyebrows. Yay, for Ultherapy!
Now that my face is slightly more taught, I wanted to address its texture and large pore size by giving myself Micropenning with PRP, aka a Vampire Facial.
MicroPenning is a treatment that creates tiny wounds in your skin to encourage the body’s in your skin to encourage the body’s own repair process. When PRP, platelet rich plasma, is added directly into those wounds, your body’s regeneration system goes into overdrive and you produce collagen and elastin at amazing rates.
PRP, short for platelet rich plasma, is taken from your own body, and I absolutely hate getting my blood drawn. But I hate looking 40 more, and our RN, Moira Ljungquist, knows what she is doing, so I went for it and it was actually pretty painless. Then, I lathered up with numbing cream and took the Mircopen into my own hands. Immediately after treatment, my face felt warm and tingly, like a fairly intense sunburn, but this sensation went away after a couple of hours. Later that night, my face became so itchy that I needed to sleep with Aquaphor.
When I woke up the next morning, my face was still red and splotchy but I was able to cover up the redness with mineral makeup.
The following day, the redness looked much better but in the middle of the day, my face began flaking so badly that I had to wash my face.
By the third day, I was almost completely healed with no flaking or redness.
I’ve been doing MicroPen with PRP on patients for years, but now I can truly say that I love this treatment! My skin looks great – super soft and smooth with a noticeably reduced pore size.
Once I complete my series of three Micropen with PRP sessions and three chemical peels, I will be doing SilkPeels every four weeks to enhance and maintain those results.
Is there a treatment you want me to try next? Let me know in the comments below, and I’ll happily be your guinea pig:)
