#ForTheFace Runs For Organs R Us
It’s no secret, our entire staff is passionate about helping people look and feel their very best. That’s why on April 31st, 2016 the entire For The Face – Lieberman and Parikh Facial Plastic Surgery staff has committed to running the Golden Gate Relay from Calistoga to Santa Cruz, through 36 cities, across the Golden Gate Bridge all in support of Organs R Us and the 125,000 Americans waiting for organs.
Transferring the baton from runner to runner symbolizes the transfer of an organ from donor to recipient.
Drs. Lieberman and Parikh began running the Golden Gate Relay in 2006 when they were both residents at Stanford and the Chief of Pediatric Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery, Anna H. Messner, M.D, challenged the group to complete this difficult yet very rewarding race. In fact, it was late at night on the very first race that Drs. Lieberman and Parikh were exhausted enough to come up with the crazy idea of going into practice together one day.
A decade later, the passion and dedication for helping others is still apparent in everything the doctors do. From performing reconstructive surgeries to providing facial rejuvenation to donating one surgery / quarter to someone who couldn’t otherwise afford care to educating the next generation of surgeons – Drs. Lieberman and Parikh have created a practice built on helping others. It only made sense that they would challenge the #ForTheFace staff to not only get in excellent shape but also to come together to raise funds for others in need of medical care.
This year, all the funds raised in the Golden Gate Relay will support KATIE GRACE (7/16/02–12/25/15)
After Katie Grace Groebner of Mankato, MN, developed pulmonary hypertension, her family moved to Clayton, CA, in 2008 for treatment at Stanford Hospital. On June 14, 2014, Katie Grace received a new heart and lungs and was able to blow bubbles through a straw. Although her heart was strong, Katie Grace’s lungs failed before a second donor became available. After bringing joy to the GGR finish for seven years, Katie Grace will cheer from above.
We hope you will join us in our journey to help others be their very best. Please donate to Organs R Us. (ORU and Friends) is a 501(c)(3) and all donations are tax-deductible: 45-3266453
Thank you in advance for your support!
