glossary definition:
mineral oil:
Mineral oil is an ingredient used in many beauty and cosmetics products as lubricant, ingredient, or binder. It is a petroleum derivative and the subject of debate.
Today, mineral oil is considered by most to be NOT GOOD. The argument states that it will impact the skin's ability to breathe, absorb moisture, and expel toxins.
There are still some manufacturers who reject this negative view, although most beauty products have dropped the use of mineral oils altogether.
Despite the evidence, mineral oil is still widely used in everday products like lotions, hair products, powders, suntan creams, etc.. |
