HALO™ Hybrid Fractional Laser

At L&P Aesthetics, we offer patients the most innovative, safe and effective treatments which is why we offer the Halo Fractional Laser by Sciton®. The Halo laser is the world’s first hybrid laser with revolutionary technology that targets multiple layers of skin and addresses multiple skin issues simultaneously. Unlike other laser treatments, the Halo laser is safe for all skin types and has much less downtime.

What makes the Halo laser unique is that it simultaneously delivers both fractional (ablative) and non-fractional (non-ablative) wavelengths to the same area. With one pass, a patient will receive a fully customized treatment that addresses skin concerns in the epidermis as well as the dermis.

Ablative laser treatments incite a wound response on the outer layers of the skin to promote healthy healing and collagen production. By removing the outer layers of skin, traditional ablative laser treatments offer dramatic results, but the healing period is usually long and sometimes painful.

Non-ablative laser treatments such as BroadBand Light™ (BBL) deliver heat into the skin through thousands of tiny columns known as micro-thermal treatment zones. This process eliminates old epidermal pigmented cells while depositing heat deep into the dermis to tighten skin and stimulate collagen remodeling. While there is very little downtime with non-ablative procedures, multiple treatments are often required.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Thirty minutes to an hour before the treatment, one of the highly trained R.N.’s at L&P will place a topical anesthetic on your skin to reduce any uncomfortable sensations during the procedure. The area will be measured with motion tracking technology to ensure the area is treated evenly. Then, your provider will treat each section by uniformly rolling the Halo handpiece over the skin until the system recognizes the treatment is complete.

What Results Can I Expect From The Halo?

Halo is a complete skin rejuvenation treatment available for people of all skin types, including those with darker skin tones. Patients see improvements in overall skin tone and texture in addition to significant removal of discoloration, reduction in fine lines, reduced pore size, skin reflectivity and glow.

Recovery and Beyond

A surgical facelift requires more recovery time and healing than a liquid or nonsurgical facelift, but the results are longer lasting. In fact, the effects of this surgery are considered long-lasting in that they will not fade away due to injections dissolving or dissipating over time. Note, though, that a facelift does not prevent the face from continuing to age from that point on, so patients may notice the development of new signs of aging as they get older.

HALO™ Hybrid Fractional Laser FAQs

The Halo laser and BBL Forever Young™ work slightly differently and were created to treat different conditions. But when excellent results are required, we use these two devices in combination which is called a Halo BBLiss treatment.

The Halo laser utilizes non-ablative and ablative wavelengths to simultaneously treat smaller areas with more precision. Halo is ideal for patients looking to treat wrinkles, pigmentation, enlarged pores, and acne scars.

Forever Young BBL™ is not actually a laser but a  light-based treatment that emits pulses of light energy to the skin. The short bursts of light cover large areas of skin which make it ideal for brown and red skin concerns such as freckles, rosacea, acne and age spots. BBL is usually recommended in a series of four to six for optimal results.

With a topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology, most patients experience very little discomfort. Some patients report a feeling of heat or occasional prickling sensation. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 15 to 30 minutes, or a bit longer with deeper treatment levels.

For the first 24-hours after treatment, you should keep your skin protected with SPF. After the first 24-hours your skin will begin to peel, but you will be able to put on makeup. You will see very little change on the first day but after two to three days, you will develop a light bronzing appearance. By day three or four your skin will peel, revealing your new skin beneath.

You will see initial results between two and five days after your Halo treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first two to three weeks. This is followed by a dermal regeneration phase that continues to improve for months.

Halo results will last for years to come, but you should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin. Each additional Halo treatment you get will only improve the results, giving you even better looking skin.
