L&P’s Forehead Reduction Surgery
Forehead reduction surgery is a cosmetic procedure that lowers the position of the hairline by removing a portion of the skin to advance the scalp forward. This surgery provides a natural-looking solution to enhance facial proportions for anyone who feels their hairline is too high or their forehead is an overly prominent feature of their face.
The L&P forehead reduction procedure is designed to help you achieve a look that enhances your confidence and helps you feel like your best self. At L&P Aesthetics, we focus on creating balanced, beautiful faces through a range of surgical and non-surgical services. With over 15 years of experience and an eye for aesthetics, our emphasis on structural artistry is a hallmark of all we offer. Whether you want a subtle adjustment or a more noticeable change, we’re here to help you reach your aesthetic goals.
What is Forehead Reduction Surgery?
Forehead reduction, or “hairline lowering”, is a procedure designed to reduce the space between one’s eyebrows and hairline. If you have long relied on bangs to cover your forehead, avoided putting your hair up, or found yourself wearing a hat whenever possible, forehead reduction surgery may be something you would benefit from.
Our Process For Forehead Reduction
Consultation
At L&P Aesthetics, we believe that the best results come from having a strong relationship between surgeon and patient. Consultations are the first time our facial surgeons can begin collaborating with you to understand your priorities, your comfort, and what you want out of your aesthetic journey. Talking through the procedure, answering all of your questions, and addressing how to prepare for your procedure will help you prepare for your upcoming procedure.

Aftercare
Your aesthetic team will work closely with you immediately following your forehead reduction procedure to ensure your recovery is as smooth as possible. Most patients can resume normal activities within a week, although strenuous activities should be avoided for at least two weeks. Stitches that were placed near the hairline will most likely be removed within a week, and any scarring from the incision will fade directly into the hairline so no visible scarring remains.
In addition to access to the L&P Aesthetics clinical team, our patients are also invited to utilize the wellness and recovery treatments available at our wellness center, The iO Clinic. Incorporating proven recovery treatments such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, red light therapy and IV infusions into your post-care can greatly reduce any swelling, bruising, and pain associated with the healing process.
Who is a good candidate for forehead reduction surgery?
- You have a naturally high hairline or large forehead.
- You desire a lower hairline for improved facial balance.
- You have sufficient scalp laxity to allow for advancement.
- You are in good overall health and have realistic expectations about how forehead reduction will alter your appearance.
If you think you might be a candidate for forehead reduction, please book a consultation with one of our experienced surgeons to help determine if hairline reduction is the best option for you.

What Other Procedures Support Hairline Lowering?
If you’re already considering surgeries like a facelift or brow lift, a forehead reduction can complement these procedures perfectly! The L&P Facelift is one of our signature operations, meticulously developed by Drs. Lieberman and Parikh over many years. Integrating a forehead reduction with this procedure is entirely possible, provided you communicate your desires with them. Moreover, as brow lifts continue to gain popularity for their ability to create a more youthful and lifted appearance around the eyes, combining them with a forehead reduction offers a seamless option with minimal scarring to transform your look.
What’s the difference between a forehead reduction for men vs women?
From a procedural standpoint, forehead reduction operations are the same no matter the patient. The differentiating factor is in the desired outcome. Women may prefer a hairline to start farther down their forehead, resulting in a smaller forehead and possibly more dramatic result. Men may feel the opposite and opt for a more subtle transformation, maintaining a more traditionally masculine appearance. Regardless of gender, our surgeons will work with you to establish what your dream result would be.
What is the difference between hairline lowering and hair restoration?
Forehead reduction surgery is not the same as a hair transplant. Hair restoration, often done via a hair transplant, involves the implantation of hair follicles into a specific area. Forehead reduction surgery, instead, is a surgical process by which the forehead is made to appear shorter to better balance the other facial features. Using a small incision near the hairline, the double-board certified facial plastic surgeons at L&P can produce a result with no visible scarring.
